BIO’s Sameet Agarwal Sameet Agarwal is the Product Unit Manager of the Core SQL Server RDBMS Engine. His team is responsible for delivering core database technologies like query processing and data warehousing, access methods, transactions and recovery, storage management, etc. His team is also responsible for innovation in technologies to exploit commodity hardware for scale, large memory and multi-core, solid state drives, etc. Sameet has been associated with the SQL Server team in a variety of roles for the past 14 years with key contributions in the design of the logging and recovery subsystem, transactions, access methods, etc. In his most recent role, Sameet was Product Unit Manager of the Relational Engine for the SQL Server 2008 release with features for parallelism and optimization for large scale data warehousing, resource governor, spatial and fulltext support, etc Lubor Kollar Lubor is a member of the SQL Server development group since the 6.5 release in 1996. As Program Manager he was responsible for development of SQL Server’s Relational Engine. Among many features he was working on probably the most significant were the first version of Failover Clustering, introduction of Query Parallelism taking advantage of multi – CPU machines and Table and Index partitioning in SQL Server 2005. After shipping SQL Server 2005 Lubor joined Customer & Partner group consisting several customer and partner facing teams. Lubor is currently managing SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (CAT) designing the largest and most demanding implementations of SQL Server around the world. Lubor and his team are sharing the gained know-how with SQL Server designers as well as with the SQL Server community around the world. Before joining Microsoft Lubor were developing DB2 engines for various OS platforms in IBM laboratories in Toronto and Santa Teresa including the first version of DB2 on Unix. As his last project at IBM he managed development of the first IBM’s scale-out DB solution, DB2 Parallel Edition shipped in 1995. Thomas Kejser Thomas has been working with SQL Server since version 6.5 and performance tuned cubes since OLAP Server 7.0. He has worked on some of the largest cubes in the world. Performing fast loading of warehousing and removing every bottleneck is one of Thomas specialties. He holds a master degree in computer science and has 10+ years of experience with developer coaching and scalable architectures on both OLTP and OLAP systems.
