Recurring Event: Eenmalig evenement

Description:

Saturday the 18th of February, Baarn (9.30 - 14.00 pm)

We would like to invite you to the workshop ‘Server Data Tools (SSDT)’ on Saturday the 18th of February sponsored by SDN (Software Development Network) and VX Company in Baarn. SQL Server Data Tools lets you develop, test, and maintain SQL Server and SQL Azure databases offline on your desktop. SSDT's modern T-SQL development environment supports declarative model-driven development whether working connected or offline, and integrates with Visual Studio's project and application lifecycle management tools to enable team development and source code control support for SQL Server and SQL Azure databases.

This workshop will get you started using SSDT, team oriented database development and leveraging the command line and programmatic interfaces that accompany SSDT for importing, comparing and deploying database schema. The workshop will be presented by Gert Drapers, Principal Group Program Manager in the SQL Server Data division at Microsoft Corporation.

The workshop is divided up in three parts:
Introduction to declarative database development using SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT)
Enabling team database development; integrating SSDT in to the ALM (application lifecycle management) tooling
Leveraging SSDT outside the context of Visual Studio; how to use the redist and APIs to import, compare and deploy your database schemas programmatically and the command line tooling

Learning objectives:
Understand the benefits of declarative model-driven database development
Learn how to use SSDT online and offline to develop and maintain SQL Server and SQL Azure databases
Know how to use SSDT’s target-specific validation and platform transparency to develop on-premise databases today that can be migrated or replicated to the cloud in the future
Learn how to test and debug your databases locally using the bundled LocalDB edition of SQL Server before deploying to the cloud.
Understand DAC concepts and this integrates and maps to the lifecycle of a DAC database
Learn how SSDT integrates in to the ALM lifecycle and tooling
Understand how to leverage the DAC framework and redist to programmatically extract and deploy databases

The program is dived as follows:

09.30 – 10.00 Coffee
10.00 – 11.00 Session 1
11.00 – 11.15 Break
11.15 – 12.15 Session 2
12.15 – 13.00 Lunch
13.00 – 14.00 Session 3
